Sahastrakavach

 Nar and Narayan

Part 2 (Please read Part 1 for better understanding.)

Near Badrinath, on the great Himalayas, there lived a daughter of Daksha, named Murthi with  her two sons, Nar and Narayan. Nar and Narayan were the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Nar depicted human beings, where as Narayan depicted divine power. Both were born to defeat the cruel demon Sahastrakavach. It is said that Nar and Narayan were two different bodies, but their soul was same, single soul resided in two bodies.
One day when Narayan was meditating, Sahastrakavach came and destroyed everything in front of  his eyes. To save his brother Nar came and challenged Sahastrakavach for a duel. Fight continued for thousand of years and at last Nar succeeded in braking one armour(kavach), but died because of boon of Lord Surya. Nar was revived by Narayan, as their soul was same, by mrita sanjeevani mantra. This chain continued, till 999th armour was broken. Due to fear of his life Dambhodva went back to Lord Surya for help, Lord couldn't deny his devotee, so he absorbed the last kavach of demon in himself.
Later when Kunti came to Lord Surya, asking a son, Dambhodva was reborn as Karna and Nar and Narayan were reborn as Arjuna and Krishna respectively to complete their revenge.
