Incarnation Of Yamaraaj in Mahabharat Many people are unaware of the fact that there existed one person in Mahabharat who was the incarnation of Yamaraaj (also known as God of Death and Justice). So who was he and what was his role in this epic, why did Yamaraaj took his form? Let's find the answer to these questions. Yamaraaj was cursed by Rishi Mandavya for impaling(method of executing) Rishi without any valid reason. He cursed Yamaraaj that he would be born as the son of a maid. So, in the mortal world, he was born as Vidura. Vidura, Prime Minister of Hastinapura and uncle of both Pandavas and Kauravas, also considered as Dharamraaj was born through Rishi Vyasa and Parishrami, maid of queens Ambika and Ambalika, When Vichitravirya (Grand Father of Kauravas and Pandavas) died without any child, Rishi Vyasa helped Hastinapura to get their king. Dhritrashtra, Pandu, and Vidura were sons of Vyas, out of which Vidura was the healthiest and most knowledgable, besides being on Kaurava&

Nar and Narayan    Part 2 (Please read Part 1 for better understanding.) Near Badrinath, on the great Himalayas, there lived a daughter of Daksha, named Murthi with  her two sons, Nar and Narayan. Nar and Narayan were the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Nar depicted human beings, where as Narayan depicted divine power. Both were born to defeat the cruel demon Sahastrakavach. It is said that Nar and Narayan were two different bodies, but their soul was same, single soul resided in two bodies. One day when Narayan was meditating, Sahastrakavach came and destroyed everything in front of  his eyes. To save his brother Nar came and challenged Sahastrakavach for a duel. Fight continued for thousand of years and at last Nar succeeded in braking one armour(kavach), but died because of boon of Lord Surya. Nar was revived by Narayan, as their soul was same, by mrita sanjeevani mantra. This chain continued, till 999th armour was broken. Due to fear of his life Dambhodva went back to Lord Surya for

Nar and Narayana Part-1 Long before the epic Mahabharata, there lived an Asura named Dambhodva, at that times the only desire of demons was to attain immortality at any cost. So to attain that Dambhodva meditated for years to please Lord Surya. When Lord Surya was satisfied with his prayers, he appeared before him. Dambhodva asked for a boon of immortality, but was denied by the lord and was asked to change his desire. Dambhodva became disappointed, but by using his cunning mind he asked for the boon which was not less than immortality.  He asked for the protection of thousand armors on his chest. Each armor could be removed only by a person who would have done a thousand years of meditation before fighting with him and would also have to fight for a thousand years before being able to remove a single armor. Also, the person removing the armor would die immediately after it is removed. Surya, having a soft corner for Dambhodbhava for his devotion to him, granted him his wish. Dambhodbh

Valorous son of Karna Many people are unaware of the fact that there was a son of Karna who was as brave as Abhimanyu. But he didn't got the fame and respect he deserved. Vrishasena, son of Karna and Vrishali was the eldest son of Karna, equally brave and talented like his father, He was a great archer and he also played a major role in the war of Mahabharata. On 11th day of Mahabharata, Vrishasena entered the field of Kurukshetra with his father Karna. He all alone defeated all the five sons of Draupadi, known as upandavas. He was so brave that he single-handedly tackled Drupada and defeated him, fear of Vrishasena had so much impact on Drupada that he ran away from the battlefield with his pierced chest and army of Panchal, he was the same Drupada who was not easily defeated even by the, Pandavas. When Nakula tried to encounter Vrishasena, he was also defeated by the him, the terror of Vrishasena was this high that Bhima ha d to interfere in between to save his brother, but unbel

Yuyutsu

The only living son of Dhritarashtra after the war of Mahabharata Many people believe that all sons of Dhritarashtra were killed in Kurukshetra but in reality, there was his one son who was among the 11 warriors who survived the war of Mahabharata. Yuyutsu was his name. But how did he survived the war and not have been mentioned in limelight? When Gandhari was unable to conceive for almost two years, instead of being pregnant, in frustration Dhritarashtra had a son with a vaishya varna Sugadha, who was lady in waiting for Gandhari. The son was born at the same time with Duryodhana (Gandhari's eldest son), so he was also the eldest in Kauravas. Though he was eldest, he never got any respect and recognition in the camp of Kauravas. In spite of being born in such disposed conditions, Dharma resided in his consciousness. He had a great knowledge of Dharma and War, he was also a Maharathi(capable of fighting 7,20,000 soldiers simultaneously.)   On many occasions Yuyutsu have saved Panda

Barbarika

Bravest man in the war of Mahabharata Many people often think that who was the greatest warrior in the epic Mahabharata.  It can not be denied that every warrior in the battlefield was superior from others but one man who got the title of the bravest soldier was Barbarika and surprisingly he even did not participated in the war, so how did he got the title of the bravest man despite of the warriors like Karna, Arjuna, Bhishma and Krishna ? Barbarika was the grandson of one of the Pandava Bheema and son of Ghatotkacha and Maurvi, daughter of daitya moor, a yadava king. Barbarika was originally a yaksh, who was reborn as a man. He held his principle of fighting against the winning side. When the soldiers from all over the Aryavrat (known as India is present time) started gathering in Kurukshetra (war zone), Barbarika also came from south with only 3 arrows in his quiver. Lord Krishna asked every warrior that according to them how long would the war of Mahabharata would last, every warri
